As you may know, we are part of the Summer of Riesling this year – a 94 day celebration of the grape – occurring internationally where hundreds of the world’s best restaurants pour Riesling (at least three all summer long) by the glass. We’re looking forward to a boatload of Austrian (and other kinds too) of Riesling all summer long and we thought #WineChat would be a perfect way to get things rolling (that is, of course, after the official SoR kickoff party tomorrow night.)
Of course, the Summer of Riesling isn’t all about Austria, and what’s more important, as consumers are beginning to embrace the grape’s high-acid deliciousness from regions across the globe, it’s that they understand that all Rieslings, much like Grüner Veltliners, are not the same.
For that reason, we teamed up with two other Summer of Riesling participants, Alsace and Germany, to bring you one incredible hour-long virtual chat about the virtues of distinctness of each country. Of course, no one wine can showcase what a region is in its entirety, but there are underlying themes for each country. The Summer of Riesling Overlord, Paul Greico, will also be tuning in to give us some pointers on each region and each wine and we’ll have some some fun facts ready for you too.
In short, we’ve got ourselves one fun-filled night of acid-mania.
