Zahel Winery – Soils of Vienna

Importer Carlo Huber of Darcy and Huber Selections sat down with winemaker, Alexander Zahel of Weingut Zahel, on one of his most recent trips to Vienna and asked him some in-depth questions for us regarding his winery.

Here’s another sampling: Alexander Zahel and the soils of his vineyards in Vienna:

Alexander says: The south of Vienna is responsible for more fruity, intensive wines because of the clay in the soil. In the north-west corner of Vienna, in Nussberg the soil typically consists of chalk and limestone.
