The harvest has begun

The harvest in Austria has officially begun – though it will not be completed in  certain regions such as the Wachau until the middle of November.

Gelber Muskateller, Muller-Thurgau, Zweigelt, Blauer Portugeiser, Muscat Ottonel and others are already showing beautiful, aromatic character and it’s thought that while this vintage will be small, it will be up to the high quality standard Austria has so prominently portrayed throughout the past years.
Here are some pictures from the Zweigelt harvest at Weingut Michlits/Meinklang in Burgenland.

Can’t you taste the spicy, red fruit already? Looks like they’re having fun!
