Spotlight on: Weißburgunder aka Pinot Blanc

Weißburgunder, also known as Pinot Blanc, this international variety is more familiarly known as Weißburgunder in Germany and Austria.

Pinot Blanc is a late-ripening, thin-skinned, tight-clustered grape that does well with a variety of vinification techniques.

Pinot Blanc generally has soft acidity, a delicate if not restrained bouquet and is often used as a blending partner to lighten heavier grapes.

Pinot Blanc is very versatile can be vinified dry to sweet offering drinkers several ways to enjoy the grape.

Within Austria, Pinot Blanc is classified under the Leithaberg DAC where it is grown in stony soils with little nutrients. In recent years, the grape has gained increased popularity.
