Reporting from Austria, Julia Sevenich gives us the low-down Leithaberg DAC. Check out the fun time she had with a picnic lunch amongst the vineyards.

The Wine Snob sticks her nose in a glass of the Berger Zweigelt and comes out with an interesting rendition of the grape’s history.

The Austrian Tourist Office announced that their two-week pop-up store celebration will conclude with a Taste of Austria featuring a walk around tasting of some of our favorite food and wine pairings. Nibbles will be provided by some of the city’s top restaurants and an extensive selection of wines will be offered to truly take a trip down the Danube. A special party will be thrown for the trade in the after hours – stay tuned for details!

THIS WEEKEND: Don’t forget to check out one of the industry’s hippest wine tastings: WINE RIOT hosted by the Second Glass. They’ll be taking over Williamsburg in three unforgettably rambunctious sessions starting tonight and continuing with two sessions tomorrow. The Barerhouse will be there pouring some delicious juice from KW Selections and we’ll be there snapping photos! Hope to see you there. Check out the Facebook page for your pictures tomorrow!

As always, it was a pleasure to see so many of the fine winemakers and importers of Austrian wine these past couple weeks. As the concentrated tasting season wraps up in NYC, we’re looking forward to seeing them all back here in October!
