#WineChat Riesling is TONIGHT 9-10pmEST

Tonight we will commence with our version of the kick-off of the Summer of Riesling with an online Twitter chat, #WineChat, focusing on the exploration of Riesling from three of the top regions: us, Alsace, and Germany!

Follow along as we take you on a journey explaining the virtues of Riesling in general, each region, the specific wines, and finally what makes each so unique from the other. We were lucky enough to sit down with Paul Greico, Riesling Overlord, last week and taste with him already while we picked his brain. He won’t be able to log onto the chat tonight, but we have his thoughts and the Summer of Riesling and Hearth/Terroir crew will be sure to chime in too!

If you haven’t already, pick up a bottle of wine from each region… we recommend:

Germany: Domänenweingut Schloss Schönborn Riesling Qualitätswein, Hattenheim Pfaffenberg 2010 ($52.99)
Alsace: Gustave Lorentz Riesling Reserve 2009 ($23.99)
Austria:   Fred Loimer Kamptal Riesling 2011 ($25), or Fritsch Riesling Wagram 2011 ($18) (each participant should choose one of these two)

….but if you can’t find these, other bottles will do just fine – just let us know what you’re sipping!

Official Event details:
Date: June 27th
Time: 9-10pmEST
Where: TWITTER just use hashtag #WineChat
What: An hour-long, interactive discussion of the virtues of each region and what makes them different from one another, as well as similar, as we taste them side-by-side. Special commentary from the Summer of Riesling and Paul Grieco to help guide us – and some fun Summer of Riesling giveaways and swag!

Show your support while you tweet with one of these great tattoos, pins, or t-shirts too (we have a preference toward the red stuff!)

So follow along with hash tag #WineChat and in the meantime, brush up on your Austrian Riesling know-how!

Happy tweeting!
