Announcing Twitter Interviews with Austrian Winemakers! First: Christoph Artner

We are pleased to announce the dawn of a new series, winemaker interviews via Twitter!

March 13th will mark our first interview with special guest, Christoph Artner of Weingut Artner in Carnuntum. We will host a special tweet-up based in New York to taste his wines than take to the internet and explore Artner’s views on winemaking, the region, and, of course, his wines.

The questions will be posted by @AustrianWineUSA and Christoph will answer through his own account @ArtnerWines based on wines we have tasted at the Tweet-up and also his personal experiences. You can also follow the fun with #TalkAustria.

The Artner winery focuses on international varieties and Zweigelt grown on 30 hectares of vineyards in sites they have researched extensively. Something quite fun being done here that isn’t typical of Austria is their experimentation with foreign styles. For example, for dessert we tasted a wine entitled, “Portuguese Love Remix,” which is a port-styled wine that was created in conjunction with a musical artist. They know how to have a good time, in short!

The event will take place:

Thursday, March 13, 2014, 7p.m.EST on Twitter.

Wines that will be tasted and discussed during the chat include:

–        Grüner Veltliner Steinäcker 2013
–        Grüner Veltliner Steinäcker Reserve 2012
–        Rosé vom Zweigelt 2013
–        Zweigelt Klassik 2012
–        Rubin Carnuntum Zweigelt 2012
–        Steinäcker Zweigelt Reserve 2011
–        Kirchweingarten Blaufränkisch Reserve 2011
