12 Days of Austrian Wine: Merry Christmas 2014 from the AWMB

As always, we would like to extend to you our warmest wishes for a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year! But this year’s greeting is quite a bit different: this time, it doesn’t come with beautiful Christmas cards, sweet presents or – as in the past three years – a specially produced Christmas video.

What we’re sending you now is the joy and good news about a wonderful charity in which we’ve been actively involved this year. “Room to Read” is a non-profit organization whose goal is to enable children in developing countries the access to schools and books. To help initiate a solid education, “Room to Read” is working together tirelessly with many local communities.

On the initiative of Jancis Robinson MW and the Financial Times, the Austrian Wine Marketing Board – accompanied by Austrian wines – was invited to attend this year’s Room to Read Gala on October 2nd in the Old Library at Guildhall in the City of London. During that special evening, £ 1.8 million was raised for the “Room to Read” projects by the 200 guests in the historic hall. The AWMB contributed not only through wine sponsorship, but also with a check for € 10,000.

This holiday season, we kindly ask you to please follow our example and support “Room to Read” (www.roomtoread.org) or a similar charity near you, and celebrate a joyous Christmas with family and good friends – and with delicious wines from Austria, of course.

We at AWMB raise our glasses to the many friends and fans of Austrian wines around the world, and wish you all a very Merry Christmas!

Yours Sincerely,

Marie-Sophie Lodron & Willi Klinger
