Taste Austria – Oct. 19th NYC

Join us for a culinary journey to Austria, sampling the creations of New York’s celebrated Austrian chefs Kurt Gutenbrunner (Wallsé, Blaue Gans), Wolfgang Ban and Edi Frauneder (Seasonal, Edi & The Wolf), and Erwin Schrottner (Café Katja). Sample a selection of excellent Austrian wines including Austria’s signature grape, Gruener Veltliner, and learn more about traditional varietals and the best pairing options.

The line-up of Austrian chefs at our “A Taste of Austria” event on October 19 is impressive. Among those who will present their mouthwatering creations and innovative takes on traditional Austrian dishes are:

Kurt Gutenbrunner, chef and co-owner of New York City’s Wallsé, Café Sabarsky, and Blaue Gans, has earned abundant praise for his modern interpretation of Austrian cuisine and his seamless integration of food and art. He has recently been bestowed the Merit in Gold of the Republic of Austria.

Chefs Wolfgang Ban and Eduard Frauneder from Seasonal combine traditional techniques and contemporary innovations to update some of their favorite childhood dishes. Their newest venue, Edi & The Wolf opened in the Lower East Side in 2010.

Erwin Schrottner and his partner Andrew Chase are known for their decidedly upscale take on well-crafted Austrian comfort food. Smoked-to-order plump sausages and bacon wrapped pork sausages filled with Emmentaler cheese are just a few of the Austrian delicacies these former veterans of the Mark Hotel and the Monkey Bar have on offer.

Tickets are available for 75 USD. Click here to make a reservation.

Proceeds from this event will go to City Harvest.
